All of Australia has been holding their breath nervously as Brisbane reaches the final bend of their Olympic bid. But by tonight we will finally know if they will be hosting the 2032 Olympics!
By 6:30pm tonight the results will be in whether Brisbane will hold the 2032 Olympics. The Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, federal Sports Minister Richard Colbeck and the Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner will make their final pitch to the IOC at 5:00pm. The vote will then go out to the 102 delegates where the decision will be made.
The Olympics will cost us a pretty penny as well, costing $5 billion to host the Olympics. However, they should recoup $1 billion in tv rights alone!
Queensland Tourism Industry Council chief executive Daniel Gschwind said that “This could not come at a better time for us,”
“I think the Games … can be that beacon of hope for us and it will give us an incredible focus for us to reflect on what is the best versions of our city and state and how can we create it.”
