The identity of the woman tragically killed by a fallen tree in Melbourne yesterday been revealed.

Allison Milner was an “accomplished” social epidemiologist and associate professor at the University of Melbourne according to The Age and has been remembered as “incredibly bright” by her workmates.

The 36-year-old was also a mother of two boys, aged three and five.

In a touching tribute, her close friend and mentor Professor Anne Kavanagh told The Age Professor Milner was “amazingly caring to all her staff, she put them first, always listened and was always thinking about the next thing for them”.

“We kept telling her she was fantastic and she was humble and she would tell us that wasn’t true but she won numerous awards for her work,” she said.

“She was funny, she was hysterical. We are all going to miss the enormous humour she brought to everything. She was a very humble person. She was always self-deprecating and she had a very dry sense of humour.”

Our thoughts are with Allison’s family and friends at this truly tragic time.
