Lynn Cohen, best known for her role as Magda on Sex and the City, has passed away at the age of 86.

Fans would remember Cohen as the Ukrainian housekeeper and nanny to Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) on the HBO series, Sex and the City.

The veteran actress also had roles on The Affair, Law & Order, Blue Bloods, Chicago Med, Damages, Getting On, The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, Master of None, Nurse Jackie and NYPD Blue.

On the big screen, Cohen played Mags in The Hunger Games, and had supporting roles in The Cobbler, Eagle Eye, Munich and They Came Together.

Cohen’s Sex And The City co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker, has taken to Instagram to honour the actress.

“Beautiful Lynn Cohen. Miranda’s dear and necessary Magda. Our dear SATC colleague. Talent, grace, inspiration. RIP X, SJ,” she wrote.


Sam Claflin, who starred opposite Cohen in The Hunger Games, has also paid tribute to the star on Instagram, writing: “Mags, I’ll carry you everywhere. Always. RIP Lynn. You wonderful wonderful lady you. X”

Cohen is survived by her husband Ronald Theodore Cohen. The couple had been married since 1964.
