The driver of the ute was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene. Crash Investigation units were also called to the scene.

All southbound lanes were originally closed on the M1 Pacific Motorway between Berowra Interchange and Windy Banks Interchange.

Cars are being diverted via the Pacific Highway.

Anyone travelling towards Sydney is being urged to take alternative transport. Motorists are also being told to stay up to date with the latest traffic information at www.livetraffic.com.
