It’ll now be easier for West Australians to access medicinal cannabis, with the state government announcing changes to the law.

Health Minister Roger Cook says from today, GP’s will be allowed to prescribe it to most patients.

“The McGowan Government is putting patients first by making access to medicinal cannabis easier, removing the need for a sign-off from a medical specialist,” he said.

Specialist approval will still be needed for children under the age of 16 and for patients who are drug dependent or have a history of drug use.
