Aussie motorsport commentator Mike Raymond has passed away following a short battle with pneumonia, aged 76.

Raymond, famous for the phrase “BE THERE!”, was the voice of Australian motor racing from the 1970s to the 1990s, commentating the Bathurst 1000 for more than 20 years.

He then went onto become the head of sport at Channel Seven, and was instrumental in creating the world’s first in-car cameras in racing.

Raymond was followed into broadcasting by his son Andy, who has been a rugby league commentator at Fox Sports for over 10 years.
