The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for parts of New South Wales today, with strong winds and powerful surf expected to hit today.
Just after 5AM today (Thursday 22 August) the BOM posted a Marine Wind Warning for the state.
A storm force wind warning has been issued for the Illawarra Coast, Batemans Coast and Eden Coast.
Sydney Closed Waters, Coffs Coast, Macquarie Coast, Hunter Coast and Sydney Coast have been issued with a Gale Warning.
Higher up in NSW on the Byron Coast a strong wind warning has also been issued.

A large and powerful swell is also predicted to hit along parts of the coast, with significant wave heights expected to reach up to 7 or 8 metres.
The weather warning is in place until approximately midnight on Friday 23 August.
This comes following a damaging wind warning that was issued yesterday (Wednesday 21 August).
