Australia will be dazzled by a stunning meteor shower tonight as remnants of Halley’s comet light up the atmosphere.
The Orionid meteor shower will peak from midnight tonight and your best bet to see it will be finding an open area away from the city with a wide view of the sky.
If you let your eyes adjust to the dark you shouldn’t even need binoculars or telescopes to see the spectacle.
EarthSky recommend the Mount Royal National Park in the Hunter Region of NSW as the best spot to see the incredible sight.
“It is an isolated area in the Barrington Tops region of eastern Australia. It is part of the World Heritage Gondwana Rainforests of Australia … its isolated position is great for stargazing, as you can see even the dimmest of stars.”
