An elderly man has shocked motorists in Arncliffe, taking his mobility scooter into traffic on some of Sydney’s busiest roads.

The man’s travels at around midday were captured on dashcam footage shared to 7News.

In the footage, the man is seen taking his scooter in the right lane of heavy traffic, at one stage crossing the Princes Highway.

In the footage, we hear the driver of the car with the dashcam on the phone to police, providing updates on his movements through Arncliffe.

After crossing the Princes Highway on Wickham Street, the man took a turn into a dead-end street before taking Eden Street back towards the Princes Highway.

Eventually the man returned to the safety of a footpath, away from the heaving traffic.

When police eventually caught up with the man, they found him to be disorientated and sent him home to Earlwood in a taxi.
