A mass COVID-19 vaccination hub will open in Sydney Olympic Park on May 10, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced.
“The sooner we are able to safely vaccinate six million adults in NSW, the better,” she said on Wednesday.
Initially, anyone in categories 1a and 1b will be able to get their jab at the mass hub in the specially fitted commercial building. But that will expand to anyone older than 50 from May 24.
And the general practitioner’s network in NSW will offer the AstraZeneca jab to anyone over 50 from May 17.
The premier emphasised that over-50s should try their GPs first before heading to the vaccine hub.
NSW will also help vaccinate aged care workers and disability workers, Ms Berejiklian said.
NSW recorded nine new cases of coronavirus in hotel quarantine in the 24 hours to 9pm on Tuesday. There were zero locally acquired cases.
