In light of a weekend of widespread panic-shopping across the country, Woolworths supermarkets will introduce an hour of shopping exclusive for the elderly and those living with a disability.
Starting tomorrow, Woolies will open exclusively for the elderly and those with a disability between 7am and 8am each morning.
The move comes following unprecedented demand, which was punctuated by a weekend of panic shopping in Australia’s supermarkets.
We’re launching a dedicated shopping hour in our stores to help support the needs of the elderly & people with disability in the community. From tomorrow until at least friday, we’ll be opening exclusively for them to shop from 7-8am, where permitted.

If you want to get into a Woolies supermarket during the exclusive shopping hour, you will need a Government-issued concession card.
Woolworths Managing Director Claire Peters said that the temporary measure will give the elderly and those with a disability the chance to obtain essential items when they may have previously missed out.
The news follows some reports that Woolworths had paused its online deliveries in some areas given difficulties in meeting orders.
