To help keep up with the shopping demand created by the coronavirus crisis, Woolworths has now announced a blanket two limit rule on everything in-store unless stated otherwise.

It comes after shoppers have been quick to strip shelves of essential items, including toilet paper, paper towels, rice, pasta, hand sanitiser and mince meat.

“As the situation continues to evolve, we’ve made some further changes to the maximum number of products customers can buy, in addition to any other limits already in place,” the statement reads.

“There is now a per customer, per shop limit of two items from any single category on most packaged products across Woolworths Supermarkets and Metro stores and online. This means customers will only be able to buy two products from any single included category, regardless of the brand or variety.”

Fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, drinks, deli, bakery, seafood, fresh milk, yogurt and canned fish are exempt from the policy. Mince meat is not exempt and is still limited to two per customer.

Baby food and pet food is also unlimited. You can also buy as much Easter eggs and merch as desired.

One item limits still remain on antibacterial wipes, baby wipes, paper towels, rice, serviettes and toilet paper.
