1. Byron Bay
Byron Bay is a nine hour drive north of Sydney. Known for chilled vibes and clean beaches. it will also be significantly warmer than Sydney at Easter time – warm enough to swim! Additionally there are ample opportunities to stop along the way at many coastal beaches on the NSW coast. Byron is surrounded by National Parks and there is plenty of activities, especially for adrenaline junkies. Bluesfest music festival takes place over the Easter holiday weekend too which is definitely worth seeing!
2. Jervis Bay
Part of the Sydney to Melbourne coastal drive, Jervis Bay is located on the NSW South Coast, just south of Wollongong. This drive should only take about 3 hours. Known for its incredibly white beaches, the area is also popular for dolphin and whale watching.
Tathra is further south of Jervis Bay, so a six hour scenic drive from Sydney on the NSW Coast. This spot is popular for keen surfers. Nothing like fresh ocean to clear the mind on a getaway!
4. Port Stephens
Port Stephens is 2 and a bit hours north of Sydney. With beautiful national parks and dolphin watching, this could even be a day getaway destination.
You can find Merimbula on the far south coast of NSW, about a 6 hour drive from Sydney. A favourite amongst surfers, Easter is the best time to go because the summer crowds have dispersed and it is still warm!
