A South Australia koala rescue group thought that they were victims of a prank call this week after receiving a report that a koala had made itself at home in a resident’s Christmas tree.
An Adelaide woman found the koala nestling itself into the living room Christmas tree, and decided to call a rescue service to try and coax it out.
Adelaide Hills Koala Rescue took to Facebook to share photos of festive marsupial, saying that it was “desperate to get in the Christmas spirit”.

This evening our hotline operator took a call. …
The post received hundreds of comments, with people calling the whole situation “adorable” and others calling the koala “the most beautiful decoration on a Christmas tree”.
Rescuers confirmed that the curious koala was female and has since been removed from the fake tree and will now return to a proper, real-life gum tree.
