JB Hi-Fi has been told it can officially buy fellow Australian electronics chain The Good Guys.
However, the electronics retailer has not yet officially entered any negotiant as they are not sure if it makes any financial sense.
“JB Hi-Fi continues to participate in the sale process but has made no decision,” a statement from JB Hi-Fi said.
The retailer went on to say that it understands The Good Guys is still considering a number of options that are floating around.
On Thursdayy, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission said JB Hi-Fi’s proposed purchase of the The Good Guys would not reduce competition in consumer electronics, with Harvey Norman and Bing Lee among other companies in the market.
“Other retailers such as Harvey Norman have a much higher degree of overlap with The Good Guys than JB Hi-Fi,” ACCC chairman Rod Sims said.
