It’s no secret that a special wine can bring your Christmas meal to a whole new level, and thanks to Nugan Estate, your Christmas feast will be absolutely perfect.

Whether you’re a guest or hosting, this guide will make it easy for you to plan your shopping list, and enjoy an extra special celebration. Nugan Estate has it covered with a great variety of award winning wines from Australia’s best wine producing regions located in the Riverina, King Valley, Langhorne Creek, McLaren Vale and Coonawarra regions.

Starting with Christmas lunch, lighter wines such as a Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Noir are a match made in heaven.

For dinner, try a more robust drop like Cabernet Sauvignon or Shiraz.

We’ve listed out a few Christmas menu favourites to cover it all off, and no doubt arm you with some impressive wine knowledge to show off to your friends and family.

Christmas seafood
If you can’t go past a delicious seafood platter at this time of year, you will simply enhance the course with a crisp and refreshing dry white wine. We don’t think you’ll be able to go past the Nugan Estate Frasca’s Lane Pinot Grigio. It’s their most popular white wine and a fantastic paring. Grown in a cool climate at altitude in the King Valley with flavours of Pear Apple and Honey Suckle. A perfect match!

Christmas ham
If your menu includes a glazed ham, that little touch of sweetness will pair delightfully with a Cookoothama Sauv Blanc Semillon – the classic Aussie dry white blend. It’s a youthful fresh and vibrant wine with an intense zesty palate of lemon and lime and a succulent crisp finish – always a crowd pleaser!

Christmas lamb
Whether its oven roasted or straight off the BBQ, lamb goes perfectly with red wine, and we have two wonderful recommendations here.

If you’re looking for a classic you can’t go past the “McLaren Parish Vineyard” McLaren Vale Shiraz, our most prolific medal winner and it was even voted best Rhone variety at Decanter Wine Awards. The grapes are grown on Matt Nugan’s own personal vineyard that was planted in 1999. This Vineyard is one of the higher altitude vineyards in McLaren Vale and is minimally irrigated with very low yielding vines. McLaren Parish has fantastic fruit, awesome colour, and lovely white pepper and is aged in American oak to give it a well-integrated vanilla finish. If you love Shiraz, you won’t go wrong with this one.

If you’re a Cabernet drinker then the Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon is a great choice, another Australian Icon, Coonawarra and Cabernet are one of the perfect marriages in Australian winemaking, this wine has won multiple awards over the years with aromas of Black Currant and Mint and intense flavours of dark berries and Vibrant Cassis, with velvety tannins and very subtle French oak. What a mouthful!

Christmas turkey
A fantastic roast turkey is cause enough for celebration, and great wine pairing for this classic, is the Talinga Park Pinot Noir which will blow you away.  You may pay $14, but you will think your drinking a $25 plus wine. It has a palate of dark fruits and savoury tannins, can be paired with Christmas Turkey and is a good choice or any flavourful vegetarian dish, which allows us to highlight that almost all of Nugan Estates wines are vegan friendly.

And, if you’re trying out a whole roasted cauliflower or other delicious veggies, be sure to recommend a dry Pinot Grigio, such as the Frasca’s Lane Pinot Grigio or Annelise Pinot Grigio..

You now have the chance to taste some of Nugan Estates finest wines now with 25% off, so stock up for the season of celebration!
