The first photo of actor Johnny Flynn as David Bowie in the upcoming film Stardust has been released.
Flynn is best known as the star of the Netflix series Lovesick.
No new info has been surfaced regarding the movie, which was announced back in February.
What we do know is that, in addition to Flynn’s starring role, Jena Malone (The Hunger Games, Donnie Darko) plays Bowie’s first wife, Angie, and Marc Maron (GLOW) stars as his publicist.
This project has been described as a “origins story” and “moment in time film” rather than a biopic by its producers, according to Variety.
Meaning, the music used in the film will use music the artist covered at the time, rather than use Bowie’s original material.
Bowie’s son, Duncan Jones, is vehemently opposed to the movie, and that not only does the movie not have the family’s support – it won’t get any Bowie tunes.
“Pretty certain nobody has granted music rights for ANY biopic… I would know,” he tweeted in January following announcements that Flynn would star in the film about his late father.”
Im not saying this movie is not happening. I honestly wouldn't know.
Im saying that as it stands, this movie won't have any of dads music in it, & I can't imagine that changing. If you want to see a biopic without his music or the families blessing, thats up to the audience.
