Melissa Dohme is finally getting her happily ever after.
The 23-year-old was stabbed 32 times by her ex-boyfriend in 2012 and called 911, with paramedics rushing to her side.
One of those paramedics, Cameron Hill, is now her fiancé after he popped the big question at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game in Florida this week.
Ms Dohme was pitching the first ball at the game when Mr Hill walked out and surprised her with the proposal in front of thousands – and she, of course, said yes.
It’s an incredible story and a wonderful ending to a horribly traumatic series of events.
When the couple first met, Ms Dohme was drenched in blood with stab wounds to her hands, arms, face and head, and Mr Hill said he had never seen anything like it.
He also said he had a strange feeling about her, despite not even knowing her name – and months later, in October 2012, they met again at a local church and fell in love.
Ms Dohme’s abusive ex is now serving a lifetime sentence in prison, while she prepares to marry the man she calls her “fairytale” – who also saved her life.
