Piers Morgan has quit ‘Good Morning Britain’ with a bang after a trainwreck on-air argument about Meghan Markle earlier this week.

ITV has confirmed the news announcing, “Following discussions with ITV, Piers Morgan has decided now is the time to leave Good Morning Britain.”

“ITV has accepted this decision and has nothing further to add.”

Morgan’s departure follows problematic comments he made on-air in response to Meghan Markle’s statements about contemplating suicide on her interview special with Oprah.

After airing a clip from this part of the interview, Morgan said “I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she says.”

“I wouldn’t believe her if she read me a weather report.”

On Tuesday after co-presenter Alex Beresford called his behaviour ‘diabolical’, Piers stormed offset.

Piers Morgan tweeted an image of a clock minutes before the statement was released by ITV earlier this morning.

Whether his departure is directly related to the on-air blow up or completely unrelated, it’ll be interesting to see what he plans to do next.
