September marks ten years since the bushfire that burned 65 per cent of Turia Pitt’s body.
While competing in a 100km marathon, the then 24-year-old became trapped in a ferocious grassfire. The mining engineer suffered life-threatening burns, lost seven fingers, and had to undergo 200 medical procedures over “two gruelling years”.
“The 10 year anniversary was earlier this month, and I never do anything to commemorate the day and I didn’t this year. It was a bit of an anticlimax,” Turia told Jonesy & Amanda.
Turia continues to live life to the fullest, and has even released her very own running program for mums named ‘Run With Turia’.
