The closure of Toys ‘R’ Us in Australia was a blow for parents looking for a bargain when it comes to buying toys and games for their kids.
But now, with the Christmas rush not far away, shoppers in Sydney are set to benefit from a brand superstore opening this week.
Toymate is set to open it’s latest Aussie store on Saturday, replacing the now-defunct mega size Toys ‘R’ Us in Bankstown.

Spread out over 1800 square metres, this will be biggest store of it’s kind in New South Wales.
The Australian-owned chain’s founder Danny Bloom said in a statement:
‘We’re focused on providing a magical shopping experience that not only encompasses an exceptional toy offering, but also offers a colourful world for children to lose themselves in, shop and play,’
‘Bankstown is one of our most exciting store openings yet, we can’t want to give all of our customers the best experience they could imagine.’
And in a BIG bonus for parents, Toymate will give former Toys ‘R’ Us patrons Gold Member status to try and ‘restore faith’ in the retail industry.
Shoppers who swipe their old membership cards, will receive five per cent off purchases for life, as well score exclusive deals and event invites.
Toys ‘R’ Us shut down its stores across the globe after it was placed in administration in early 2018. I
In Australia, all 44 of the brand’s stores closed resulting in the loss of 700 jobs.
Toymate have also has plans to re-open the old Toys ‘R’ Us in Castle Hill later this month.
