The upcoming series of Married At First Sight has reportedly been temporarily suspended amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming was originally scheduled to start in August and finish in December, however, there have been reports that production has ceased for the 2021 series.

“Not being able to hold hands, no kissing and social distancing makes it hard to film a wedding,” a source revealed to New Idea Magazine.

“The biggest problem is the close interaction with the crew and experts when people who’ve applied online go to the next stage of the auditions.”

They added, “Every potential bride and groom must have a doctor’s certificate confirming they are 100 per cent COVID negative and a statutory declaration confirming they have not travelled overseas in recent weeks/months”.

It was only last week that Channel Nine and Endemol Shine Australia announced they were casting the 2021 season.

Channel Nine’s The Voice and The Block have also been temporarily suspended.
