Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will reprise their roles for the upcoming fourth instalment of ‘The Matrix’
Matrix fans, rejoice! Warner Brothers chairman Toby Emmerich announced the new film on Tuesday, saying the studio “could not be more excited” about the fourth instalment.
“Lana is a true visionary – a singular and original creative filmmaker – and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter”, he said.
Lana Wachowski, the original Matrix co-creator will write, direct and produce the film. The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions earned more than $1.6 billion at the global box office.
Wachowski is excited by The Matrix’s return, saying many of the ideas it explores are “even more relevant now”.
The original chapter of the trilogy, The Matrix (released in 1999), depicts a dystopian future in which humanity is unknowingly trapped inside a simulated reality (the Matrix), created by thought-capable artificial beings to distract humans while using their bodies as an energy source.
We look forward to learning more about the fourth films plot details and casting.
