We officially have our Princess Diana ahead of filming for season four of The Crown.
Newcomer Emma Corrin has been cast in the iconic role and we think she may be the perfect pick.
Corrin will play Diana alongside Josh O’Connor (The Durrells) who was cast to play Prince Charles in season three and four.
The pair will depict the early romance between the royal couple between the ages of 18 and 22.
“I have been glued to this show and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is surreal,” Corrin said of the role.
“Princess Diana was an icon and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring.
“To explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity and I will strive to do her justice.”
Although don’t expect The Crown to gloss over Princess Diana’s imperfections and anxieties.
It has been said that the character will be portrayed as a “desperate and lonely self-harmer”, who is trying tirelessly to befriend her new in-laws The Queen and Prince Philip.
In fact the casting notes called for a very specific type of actress.
“She has to play a charming comedy, flirt and social exhibitionist on the world stage, desperate and lonely self-harmer at her lowest ebb and the kind of psychological intensity of Mia Farrow in Rosemary’s Baby.”
Big shoes to fill.
Good luck Emma and we CAN NOT wait until the third and fourth seasons of The Crown are officially released.
The third season has allegedly finished filming and is set to premiere in July of this year.
