A still taken from the latest season of The Crown has fans convinced that Kate Middleton has moonlighted as an extra in the series.
The extra can be seen in episode six of season four, among a crowd of excited fans alongside Princess Diana (Emma Corrin), during her and Charles’ 1983 tour of Australia.
Wearing a floral dress, yellow jacket and long brown hair, fans’ hearts stopped when some eagle eyes clapped onto what they thought was the Duchess of Cambridge.
“Meta moment in S4 Ep6 of #TheCrown,” tweeted one. “While depicting Charles and Diana’s trip to Oz, one of the women reaching out to touch Diana is the spit of Kate Middleton.”

Surely SURELY I’m not the only one who has definitely (read: probably not, but definitely) spotted Kate Middleton in the background in Season 4 of @TheCrownNetflix! #TheCrownSeason4 #TheCrown #DuchessofCambridge pic.twitter.com/N6nXr7eEjN

The likelihood it was her is actually extremely unlikely.
Olivia Colman, who plays the Queen, said Prince William was not a fan of the show which, this season, shines the spotlight at his parents’ marriage.
“He asked what I was doing at the moment before he quickly added, ‘Actually, I know what you’re doing,” she told UK TV host Graham Norton.
“I was so excited and asked, ‘Have you watched it?’ His answer was a firm no, but he was very charming and very lovely.”
