Shrek is one of those classic movies that will never stop being good no matter how many times we watch it or quote it.
But according to one producer there’s still so much more that can be explored with the 2001 film (Coz’ it’s like an onion. It has layers…)
And so, Chris Meledandri, the producer behind other films like Despicable Me, has decided to completely reboot the Shrek franchise, and people have some seriously mixed feelings about it.
According to Variety, Meledandri wants to reboot both Shrek and Puss In Boots films, but he isn’t looking at doing things completely differently because of the iconic actors involved in the originals, including Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz and Eddie Murphy.
In fact, Meledandri has said that he would love to get the whole gang back together to voice the reboot.
“When you look back on those vocal performances they’re awesome, and while you certainly could make a case for a complete reinvention, I find myself responding to my own nostalgic feelings of wanting to go back to those characterisations,” said Meledandri.
And well, just like us, Twitter is feeling a bit confused about how they feel about this reboot…

No word yet on exactly when it’s supposed to start production or when it could be released, but despite our reservations we’ll definitely be giving it a watch to see how it compares to the originals.
