I’m just going to say it: SBS On Demand is one of the most underrated streaming platforms around.
A new series has dropped and, as someone who was a teenager in the 90s, I can’t wait to get my eyeballs around it for a big ol’ nostalgia hit.
Dark Side Of The 90s is a 10-part series which ‘takes a deep dive into the decade’s untold history, revealing secrets, and perspectives.’
Episode one looks like an absolute corker: ‘Trash TV: Dirty And Deadly Talk’.
Yep, we’re talking 90s talk TV and how new shows like Donahue and Jerry (Jer-ry!) Springer used combustive relationships, shock and violence to entertain the masses.
The series also covers other 90s dark spots such as Beanie Baby craze, the notorious Viper Room, the story of Grunge, the phenomena of Baywatch and how doomsday cults seized on Y2K fears.
Dark Side of the 90’s: stream anytime on SBS On Demand or on SBS Viceland on Mondays at 8.30pm
