Dustin Diamond, best known for playing ‘Screech’ on the hit show Saved By The Bell, was hospitalised over the weekend, a representative confirmed.
Insiders told TMZ that the 44-year-old was admitted to hospital after complaining his entire body was in pain, prompting his medical team to fear it was cancer.
The actor has a family history of cancer, with his mother losing her battle with breast cancer.
It is believed the actor is having a biopsy done to determine the problem.
“He’s always going to remain upbeat — that’s just who he is in that respect,” Diamond’s rep told Fox News.
Diamond originated the role of Samuel ‘Screech’ Powers on the 1988 Disney Channel show Good Morning, Miss Bliss. Not long after, the show was retooled into Saved By The Bell on NBC.
