A companion soundtrack to the new Roger Waters The Wall concert film is scheduled to be released on November 20. The album will be available as a two-CD set, a three-LP vinyl package and a digital download, and will features performances from ex-Pink Floyd singer/bassist Roger Waters hugely successful The Wall Live Tour, which ran from 2010 to 2013.
The Roger Waters The Wall soundtrack was produced by Nigel Godrich, whose credits include albums by Paul McCartney, Radiohead and Beck. The 29-track album features a full live performance of Pink Floyd’s classic 1979 concept album The Wall, about a rock star who descends into madness while haunted by the wartime death of the father he never met. Among the classic songs included on the record are “Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2,” “Young Lust,” “Hey You,” “Comfortably Numb” and “Run Like Hell.”
Waters’ backing band for the performances included guitarists G.E. Smith and Snowy White, multi-instrumentalist Jon Carin and Roger’s son Harry Waters, who played keyboards.
As previously reported, Roger Waters The Wall will be released as a DVD, a two-disc Blu-ray set and a high-def digital video on December 1. The movie combines live performance footage with dramatic and documentary segments aimed at conveying Waters’ passionate antiwar sentiments.
The Roger Waters The Wall soundtrack CD and LP sets can be pre-ordered now at RogerWaters.com. According to a message on Waters’ official Facebook page, release details for a Super Deluxe edition that likely will feature both the film and the album will be announced this week.
