Channel Nine has cancelled production on new episodes of Millionaire Hot Seat due to the spread of COVID-19 on the set of the program.

The news comes after seven members of Channel 10’s The Masked Singer production team tested positive for coronavirus, which has subsequently resulted in the temporary shut down of other productions such as the Eddie McGuire hosted quiz show.

New episodes of Millionaire Hot Seat were reportedly set to be filmed on Monday, but since the show is produced at Melbourne’s Dockland Studio – which they also share with The Masked Singer in separate studios – production has been suspended.

The network had planned to resume production later this week after the facility had been deep cleaned, but the change in policy from the Victorian Government means this will not be possible.

Production on the quiz show has been on-hold throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, but had been set to resume this week without a studio audience.

It is unknown whether any other programs will be affected by the news restrictions.
