A study at Cardiff University Hospital found that four out of five operating rooms have background music and that Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb” is one of the songs recommended for surgeons as they work.

A report in the British Medical Journal says the music “improves communication between staff, reduces anxiety and improves efficiency.”

Also on the list are:

“Stayin’ Alive” – The Bee Gees

“Smooth Operator” – Sade

“Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” – Wham

“Fix You” – Coldplay

Songs that are best barred from the operating room:

“Another One Bites the Dust” – Queen

“Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” – Bob Dylan

“Everybody Hurts” – R.E.M.

“Scar Tissue” – Red Hot Chili Peppers

“Knives Out” – Radiohead
