She’s one of the strongest players on Australian Survivor, but not even Pia Miranda could anticipate the impact the program would have on her mental health, post-show.
In an interview with NW, the 46-year-old revealed that she is currently struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a result of participating on the show.
“I honestly felt like I had a bit of PTSD,” the actor said.
“It took me a long time to relax — I thought everyone was plotting against me.”
She added, “I told myself, ‘My family isn’t plotting against me,’ but some days I’d struggle to look them in the eye.
“I kept saying, ‘I have to keep an eye on everyone.’ But I was just being paranoid.”
She then went on to admit how difficult it was adjusting to a western toilet after spending months going behind a tree.
“I didn’t feel comfortable using a toilet – I felt too fancy and up myself!” she told the publication.
Australian Survivor airs tonight at 7:30pm (Tuesday, September 17) on Channel 10.
