“Noodle, use your noodle
Noodle, do the noodle dance”
If you sang those two lines then you must be familiar with the iconic television show that was ‘PB&J Otter’. Yes, the animated series that followed Peanut, Baby and Jelly and their duck, raccoon and beaver playmates.
Growing up, this show was a fixture in my household, as was its iconic ‘Noodle Dance’ song. Since then, whenever I bring it up with others, I get blank expressions. Why doesn’t anybody remember this iconic television show?
Running from 1998-2000 and airing on Saturday Disney, the show centred on the Otter family who lived in the rural fishing community of Lake Hoohaw.
Each episode presented a problem which the otters solved after doing the “Noodle Dance”.
Apparently, the show was created in close conjunction with Harvard University’s Cognitive Skills Group, “Project Zero”. The Group’s job was to monitor each episode and make sure the material had a positive educational message.
Education disguised as entertainment? What a show!
Now that we’ve reminisced about this truly underrated show, the question remains – do you remember ‘PB&J Otter’ or maybe even the ‘Noodle Dance’?
