Johnny Young has opened up about one of the “saddest days” of his life.
During Sunday night’s 50th Anniversary Special of Young Talent Time, the show’s host recalled the tragic death of YTT member Juanita Coco.
“I think one of the saddest days of my life was the day that we heard that Juanita Coco had died in a car accident,” he said.
“She was something very special. She was a mighty talent. She was a wonderful singer, and she would have been a big star, definitely. Sadly, her life was cut short.”
Fans of the show were moved by the segment, with many calling Juanita their favourite Young Talent Time cast member.

Oh man…Juanita Coco 🙏🏽 Is *forgotten* her, but just then when @tonipearen did the throw to break it all came FLOODING back. She was probably my 1st experience of grief. I’m thinking it’s no mistake she was pushed to the back of my childhood memories. #youngtalenttime 🤍

Juanita Coco was totally my #YoungTalentTime crush back in the day. Pretty girl, and same age as me when she was on the show. Was saddened to hear years later she had died so young.

In 1993, Juanita was killed in a car accident at the age of 17 after attending her boyfriend’s birthday party.
Following her death, Juanita’s mother Jenny and father Patrick formed The Friends of the Donor Tissue Bank of Victoria in honour of her organ donation.
