While doing the rounds promoting one film, Leonardo DiCaprio is being roasted for another.

While chatting with MTV about upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, alongside Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie, DiCaprio was rushed with a question that none of them expected:

“OK, biggest movie controversy of all time, could Jack have fit on that door at the end of Titanic?” threw out interviewer Josh Horowitz.

DiCaprio smirked, Pitt laughed, and Robbie began reminiscing about seeing the movie… before DiCaprio interjected.

“No comment,” he said, for the first time ever, may I add.

“That’s telling, I think,” Horowitz replied.

A quick primer: For almost 22 years, debate on whether DiCaprio’s character could’ve fit on the floating door has been red-hot. Of course, he does not get on, instead he sinks down into the ocean and dies as Rose floats to safety…

Pitt is asked his thoughts.

“That is funny,” he said. “I’m going to have to go back and look now, shoot. Certainly.”

Pitt went on to taunt DiCaprio.

“Could you? Could you? Could you have squeezed in there? You could’ve, couldn’t you?”

DiCaprio holds strong with another “No comment”.

Robbie then turns to DiCaprio with her own question of logistics.

“Did you mention it at the time?” she asked him. “Were you like ‘should we make the door smaller so I…’” she trails off before DiCaprio answers.

“Like I said, I have no comment.”

In 2017, DiCaprio’s co-star Kate Winslet weighed in on the debate, telling Stephen Colbert: “He just should have tried harder to get on that door”

Titanic director James Cameron said it was simple: “You read page 147 of the script and it says, ‘Jack gets off the board and gives his place to her so that she can survive’. It’s that simple. You can do all the post-analysis you want.”

The controversy was also an experiment on Mythbusters, which proved there was room for both Rose and Jack:

James Cameron later went on to say the Mythbusters episode was “full of shit”. LOL.

Brad Pitt, however, had the last say.

“It’s movie magic, my friends, movie magic.”
