Billy Joel’s concert at New York City’s Madison Square Garden last night included a few unexpected moments. The Piano Man brought out surprise guest John Mayer, who played guitar on Billy’s “This Is the Time” and “You May Be Right.”
John also joined Billy for the British rock band Cream’s famous version of legendary blues singer Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads.”
Billy, a native New Yorker also celebrated the Mets’ win over the Chicago Cubs last night by playing a version of the “Meet the Mets” theme song on the piano. The Mets are now headed to the World Series.
As you may recall, Billy was the final performer at the Mets’ former home, Shea Stadium, before it was torn down to make room for the new Citi Field. John Mayer was one of Billy’s special guests for that series of concerts, dubbed “The Last Play at Shea.”
