Electric Light Orchestra frontman Jeff Lynne was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.  The unveiling ceremony took place at 1750 North Vine Street in front of the famous Capitol Records Building in L.A.

Tom Petty who played with Lynne in the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys and Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh were on to hand to take part in the festivities.

Walsh went first and was hilarious. He started by asking the crowd of a couple of hundred fans and friends to let out a yell every time he mentioned an Electric Light Orchestra song title, and he worked in lots of them. Then he went through a list of “things you may not know about Jeff Lynne.

Last September, Lynne revived Electric Light Orchestra and performed a huge concert in London’s Hyde Park with a new version of the group called Jeff Lynne’s ELO.  Then, in November, he revealed to Billboard that he was planning to play shows with ELO in the U.S. this year and was writing new music that he expected to perform with the band at the as-yet-unannounced gigs.
