There’s a bit of movin’ and shakin’ over at House Rules, namely who’s gonna to fill Johanna Griggs‘ shoes.

Griggs pulled the pin on the renovation show back in July after a “great deal of consideration”.

Hi @houseruleson7 fans. Thank you for your incredible, passionate support throughout Season 7, & congratulations to our Champions Pete and Courtney. 💕 I’ve got some news for you all. After a great deal of consideration, I recently sat down with the Network to ask to be allowed to step down as Host of House Rules. They have very graciously agreed for me to do that, which I’m incredibly appreciative of. As the show goes into preproduction for the next season, it’s the perfect time to hand over the role to someone who will take the show into S8. Reality TV production has been an eye opener, they are such enormous beasts with so many people involved, and I’ve had a great time over the last 7 years steering the ship, getting to work with many of my favourite camera crews as we criss-crossed the country… & having a blast playing Dress ups & experimenting with different looks…. with two of my best friends in Rosie Trindall (Stylist Extraordinaire) & Lisa Soames (Hair and Make up guru). It was a seriously fun part of working on the show. As was collaborating with two great writers in Grant Osborn & Robert Adams along with numerous audio operators as we recorded the voice overs. Sometimes we giggled so much, it was hard to get the words out! I’ve worked with fantastic judges in Joe Snell, Drew Heath, Jamie Durie & Laurence Llewellyn-Bowen… & the beautiful & talented Wendy Moore right from the start of the show. She & design mentor Carolyn Burns McCrave helped make every series so much fun. (Go the Girl (staying) Power!!) But the best part always for me, has been getting to know the teams. We’ve laughed & cried together; they all trusted me very quickly & made my job incredibly easy which I’m so thankful & grateful for. My role as host of Better Homes and Gardens, which everyone knows I’m crazy about,  keeps me very busy. Hopefully now though, with a different work load, I’ll be in a better position to take up one or two of the great opportunities that come my way, especially with 7 Sport, which is such a passion for me. But thank you for being such a fun audience to interact with. Now I’m returning to my holiday with my darling husband. Back soon, Johanna.:)

So…. After seven incredible years on the amazing show that is House Rules, it is time to say goodbye. I have loved every single moment and am really proud to have worked on a show that has literally changed lives and inspired us all to take on big, scary challenges. I have made so many friends, seen so many parts of Australia and learnt so much that I will always be grateful to Channel Seven for. How lucky was I to work with the superwoman @johgriggs7 from the very beginning, the incredible (or incorrigible) @llewelynbowen , who is also the ultimate gentleman, my first partner-in-crime @joesnelldesign, and of course the loveable @drewheatharchitect , the #tdp @carolynburnsmcc – all of whom I still call friends – and lastly my final year working with the pocket-rocket @jamiedurie (after more than 20 years of knowing each other). Obviously all the contestants over the last seven years are the people that have put their heart and soul on the line to make House Rules what it is – and I love that I still talk to many of them years after their series is over. But there’s also the super-talented crew – camera, sound and everything in between – who absolutely love this show and put everything into it. Thank you thank you thank you to @lisasoames_makeup and @rosietrindall – I am so lucky to have been doing this with you! Of course it’s always sad to see the end of such a great experience, I guess you could call this the #sevenyearitch – it’s definitely time, and my new role heading up the Lifestyle Channels @lifestyleau at @foxtel has been an absolute whirlwind over the last six months and I know it’s just going to get bigger and better as all of our new shows start rolling out next year. And just quietly, I’m pretty excited at the thought of a whole, uninterrupted, summer with my family for the first time in seven years!!! Thank you to everyone who has watched House Rules over the years – I’ll be watching season 8 along with you next year!! . . #newbeginnings #whataride #houserules

So what happens now?

OK, according to TV Blackbox, there’s a serious refresh going on with House Rules – including placing Jamie Durie as the main host.

He’ll be flanked by Carolyn Burns-McCrave and Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.

Durie’s installment as the main host is yet to be confirmed by Channel 7.
