Coming only second to the girls’ bathroom on a drunk night out, it appears that the African jungle is the perfect place for a deep and meaningful conversation.
And tonight it was Tegan Martin’s turn; the former Miss Universe Australia opened up about her former career, telling some of her fellow campmates about her struggles with eating.
“I was too fat for Next Top Model,” the 24-year-old revealed. “They just said, like, they made out like I was… ‘too commercial’.
“So there is like your high fashion and then your commercial. They want high fashion.”
Swimmer Lisa Curry looked suitably horrified at Tegan’s confession, later telling the Bush Telegraph: “For someone – an adult – who should know better to tell a young girl that, I think that is irresponsible, actually.”
Tegan continued: “I have always had curves like boobs and a bum. And, um, that is why when I lived in Paris I had to, like, starve myself to work. Because… Yeah. It is just… It is disgraceful. Lucky we are out of that patch now.”
Natalie Bassingthwaite, who was also listening to the conversation, told Tegan that she looked “amazing. Stick with what you got babe”, before making her own confession in the Bush Telegraph.
“I have had body issues,” Nat said. “I think every woman I know has. At the end of the day you need to be satisfied with yourself and treat your body with love and respect, and who cares?”
And it seems Tegan now agrees; the drop-dead gorgeous blonde – who also revealed that she studied politics for a year before entering Miss Universe Australia – admitted that she has come to love her body.
“I love my bum now,” she smiled. “I used to be tormented about it. But I am like why would you want to have no arse?”
