Not everyone can say that Facebook literally saved their life.

But British woman Laura Everley may not be around if it weren’t for the social media site, which helped her realise that she had cancer.

The 36-year-old mother told the Metro, “A friend had shared a post from a friend of theirs about her experiences of cancer and what she’d been through.

“There was a list of symptoms and I realised I had them all.”

Doctors confirmed her theory when she was diagnosed with a type of ovarian cancer in 2014, shortly after seeing the Facebook post.

Two weeks later, Ms Everley met with surgeons and had a full hysterectomy, preventing her from being able to have more children.

She is now nearing the end of her chemotherapy, and doctors are confident she can be cured.
