Paul McCartney’s ex-wife Heather Mills boasts about her musical abilities in a new article published in the U.K.’s The Guardian. Saying she teaches the former couple’s 11-year-old daughter, Beatrice music.
While Beatrice’s dad is arguably the most famous musician in the world, Mills claims that she taught their daughter how to play saxophone, since Sir Paul doesn’t know how to read music.
“Beatrice says she’s 99% me. I don’t know if that’s a good thing,” Mills writes. “I think she’s got the best of both of us, we’re both very musical.” She adds that because of McCartney’s inability to read music, “I do all the music teaching, and I’m good with languages.”
Mills, who was married to the ex-Beatles star from 2002 to 2008, claims Beatrice also is “a brilliant poet,” noting that she “obviously gets that from him.”
Heather also reveals that their daughter “hates fame and the whole limelight thing,” and is interested in becoming a marine biologist rather than a pop star.
Mills makes it pretty clear that she’s not on the best of terms with McCartney, while maintaining that her daughter is growing into a happy person in spite of her contentious relationship with her ex.
“I don’t want to go into my second marriage too much because if you haven’t got something nice to say about someone you shouldn’t say anything at all, and it had a lot to do with the person I married,” she writes. “Considering what went on, the one thing I’m most proud of is I never lowered myself to the level that some parents do where they speak badly about the other parent and it’s made my child a very healthy, very happy, very open person, which she would have been whatever happened in her life because that’s who she is genetically.”
