Australian comedian Hannah Gadsby is officially an Emmy winner!
Over the weekend, Gadsby was awarded a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for her hit Netflix special Nanette!
Gadsby’s powerful approach to her comedy special beat her fellow nominees for the award, some of the biggest names in comedy; Adam Sandler, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and even pop superstar Beyonce.

The comedy special has a 100 per cent critic rating on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes
Nanette, released last year, saw the writer share intimate details about her private life, including growing up in Tasmania, and coming to terms with sexuality.
Filmed before an audience in the iconic Sydney Opera House, the comedian opens up about pride parades, getting an art degree, homophobia, and the pain she’s had to face every day.
Nominated for an Emmy! Well I’m pretty chuffed. Hard to know what the boys make of it. I reckon they want Emmy to mean ‘food’ or ‘park’. Time will tell. pic.twitter.com/RkoRG5u96G
