The build up to Caitlyn Jenner’s own reality show has been huge and the day is finally here.

“I Am Cait” premieres today on E! at 10am (AEST) on Foxtel (with a replay at 9:30pm).

But what can we expect from the first episode?

A number of emotional and touching moments, new discoveries now that Caitlyn is living as a female and a small splash of Kardashian.

One thing that should be pleasing to most is that the tone is a lot less flippant and publicity oriented than the normal Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

There is meaning behind this reality program and hopefully that will evolve as the show goes on.

As well as tackling real issues such as her transition, Caitlyn will look at other people’s stories.

Reports say in the first episode alone, Caitlyn will meet the family of a transgender boy who ultimately committed suicide, a poignant moment on the show.

Perhaps this indicates one of the biggest points of difference from most reality programs – I Am Cait is looking to showcase and support its main character, instead of typically making fun or shining an unflattering light like many other programs.

And while this is intertwined with the family dynamic and personalities of those around her – like Kim scratching through Caitlyn’s closet and finding some items she is less than happy with or Kanye just being typical Kanye – the show serves a purpose.

Even son-in-law Kanye was showing his undivided support of Caitlyn in the first episode (in his typical grandiose way).

“This is one of the strongest things that have happened in our existence as human beings that are so controlled by perception.”

“You couldn’t have been up against more,” he says to Jenner. “Your daughter’s a supermodel, you’re a celebrity… but it was still like, ‘F*** everybody, this is who I am.’”

Will you be tuning in to watch the first of the eight part mini-series of I Am Cait?
