Elton John will return to his preferred Sydney venue before the Entertainment Centre was built – the Hordern Pavilion.

The British star has added the extra show to his All the Hits Tour, which comes to Australia this December.

Elton said he had fond memories of the iconic Sydney venue, which will house his most intimate show of the tour.

The tour will conclude at the Sydney Entertainment Centre – the last ever show at the venue before it closes.

“I thought that since we are closing the Entertainment Centre in Sydney, it would be only right to add the Hordern Pavilion to the 2015 December schedule,” he said in a statement.

“This is another piece of my long history with Sydney, the Hordern was our original ‘go to gig’. I have played there so many times over the years, before the Sydney Entertainment Centre was around, and I can’t wait to return.”

He added that Australia is one of his “favourite countries to tour”.

“Some of my most memorable concerts have taken place in venues all across the continent. The Australian audiences always seem to bring out the best in us, and I am certain there will be many more fantastic evenings when we visit in December.”

The upcoming Elton John tour will focus on the 40th anniversary of the Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album.
