Johnny Depp made his movie debut in 1984 in “A Nightmare on Elm Street”.  And in the past, director Wes Craven has said that he chose Johnny because his 13-year-old daughter told him to.

Jessica Craven is 47 years old now, and says it started when she tagged along with her dad to the audition, where Johnny complimented her on her Ritz Cracker watch in the waiting area.

She says, quote, “He was just so cute.  My friend and I were both smitten, he was very sweet to me.  I suppose, to be cynical, in retrospect he was being sweet to me because I was the director’s daughter.

“But it didn’t come across that way at all.  He was far nicer and more charming than anyone else that came in . . . After he left, I just squealed and spent the rest of the day talking about how cute he was.  I didn’t tell my dad to cast him, I just reacted.”

She adds, quote, “I feel oddly connected to him.  I never saw him or talked to him again.  It’s just a parallel existence kind of thing.”
