Merry Christmas, ya filthy animal!

Cult classic Christmas film Home Alone is officially getting a reboot, and that’s the only early Christmas gift we need!

The news was announced by Disney chairman Bob Iger, who said that the 1990 film starring a young Macaulay Culkin will be reimagined for “a new generation” after Fox sold the rights to Disney.

And if that wasn’t good enough news, Deadline has reported that other classic films will get the reboot treatment including Night At The Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and, our personal favourite, Cheaper By the Dozen!

Very few details are available for the Home Alone reboot so far and it’s possible that the reboot could come in the form of a TV show rather than another movie. It’s also unknown if any of the original stars will return.

We do know though that it’s set to appear on Disney’s new streaming service Disney+ which will launch in the US on November 12. Unfortunately though it won’t be available here in Oz until about 2021 according to, GQ Australia.

So looks like we might be waiting a while to see how this reboot plays out, but either way we can’t wait! Let’s just hope it’s as good as the original.
