The Nine Network has revealed that it has taken precautions to stop the spread of coronavirus in its television studios after Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson announced they had been diagnosed with coronavirus on Thursday afternoon.
Earlier in the week, Wilson was interviewed on TODAY EXTRA by hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russell. The news of Hanks and Wilson’s diagnosis sent the network into crisis mode, asking employees who came into contact with Wilson to be tested and self-isolate for 14 days.
This includes Campbell and Russell who will not host the show.
A Nine spokesperson said that the premises are currently being cleaned thoroughly in all areas she visited and employees are being encouraged to monitor their health.
A Current Affair will also be affected as it also broadcasts from the same studio, with Tracy Grimshaw also at home.
“Tracy Grimshaw is not hosting ACA tonight as a precautionary measure since she had minor surgery last week. Karl Stefanovic will host in her place. Arrangements for hosts for Today Extra are still being confirmed,” the Nine spokesperson said.
