The perennially fashionable David Bowie and the perennially flamboyant Elton John have landed on the latest edition of British GQ’s annual “50 Best Dressed Men” list.

Bowie, who turned 68 last Thursday, is #15 on the tally. Orlebar Brown designer Adam Brown describes the rock legend as “quintessentially British, [yet] ultimately truly international,” adding, “Every look is his own – we should all aspire to learn from this master of style. He will be ‘current’ until the day he dies – and then some.”

The magazine, meanwhile, notes that the “Thin White Duke” has quite simply influenced men’s fashion more than almost anyone who has ever lived – or, indeed, will.”

As for Sir Elton, he wound up in 18th place, one spot higher than he did last year. Shoe designer Patrick Cox praises the 67-year-old singer/songwriter for having a look that “is always as large as life and twice as wonderful.” Adds GQ, “Always a knight to remember, the world would be a drab place without him.”

Finishing ahead of John and Bowie is Elton’s husband, David Furnish, who is #10 on the tally. John calls his significant other “the best-dressed man I know, but then I’m biased!”

Topping British GQ’s “50 Best Dressed Men” list is The Theory of Everything actor and this week’s Golden Globe winner Eddie Redmayne.
