Damien Lovelock of The Celibate Rifles has passed away from cancer at the age of 65.

The musician and sports broadcaster, better known as ‘Damo’, fronted The Celibate Rifles, and released nine studio albums with the band.

Lovelock is also remembered fondly for his work on SBS’ The World Game, and for covering football on Sky News Australia. He also taught yoga in Newport, and was even hired by professional football teams like the Central Coast Mariners, Sydney FC and the NSW State of Origin team.

Fans and loved ones have taken to social media to celebrate the legendary music and sporting icons, with the hashtag #RIPDamo trending nationally.
