It seems like the ’90s will be getting some fresh blood, with Fran Drescher confirming that “The Nanny” will be getting a reboot, and *hopefully* starring a big star!
The star of the beloved sitcom previously expressed interest in casting Cardi B as her daughter in the remake of the series – and she’s working to make it happen!
In an interview with ExtraTV, the actress revealed that she’s in talks with the rapper about the possibility of her playing Fran Fine’s daughter.
“[I’m] talking to her representation,” she said. “It’s really getting me excited. It’s fresh and it could be super fun.”
Fran Drescher said she first got the idea after the 26-year-old paid homage to the actress when she stepped out at Milan’s Fashion week wearing a head-to-toe cheetah ensemble.
Cardi B then uploaded an image from the event to Instagram with the caption, “Fran Drescher in @dolcegabbana.”
“She kind of paid homage to me, putting our pictures side by side when she was wearing animal print and it was me in animal from The Nanny and that just went viral, that got my creative juices going,” Drescher told host Mario Lopez.
“She’s got a funny voice too,” she added. “What kind of a great mother/daughter would we be? Amazing, I think.”
In a recent appearance on PeopleTV’s Chatter, the 61-year-old actress said that she completely supports a potential revival of the series despite little interest from networks.
“I’m totally down with doing it,” she said. “I don’t know what is going on with some of these networks out there because they do not seem to be hip to the fact that there’s an obsession amongst millennials for the show and moi!”
Oh, and boy did she get that right. Bring it on!
